Everday Arts

I chose to sleep for this work of art. It shows character, and it's extremely fun to do. I rarely ever get nightmares but sure are they fun! As you can see from the pictures, thing almost got out of hand. My body was all over the place, and this is quite normal. I've always gotten scolded for taking too much of the bed, but I can't help it. Unfortunately in the pictures, my crazy eye isn't captured. I actually sleep with my eyes partly cracked sometimes, and it freaks people out. It's a lot of fun to do, it's almost like a Halloween prop.


Art is everything.

With that definition, my everyday activity is definitely art.

I don't see any difference between art and life. Everything around you is art, and everything you do it art. Websites, a work of art. The table your computer is on, a work of art. Sports, a work of art. Bridges, a work of art. And all that is related to life, so there is no difference imo.

Film Stills

My film still was about the movie Lords of Dogtown. It's about pioneers of skate boarding. They come to fame, get into the party scene and take advantage of women.

My first shot is me signing up for a tournament to show off my skillz. The skaters in Lords of Dogtown are really only noticed in front of a crowd, and sure are they noticed.

The second shot of me is practicing forthe tournament. The movie shows them doing a lot of street skating every day, which is obviously required to be noticed like they do.

The third shot is a crazy part of my life. I lost the last tournament, and my life feels like it's falling to pieces. The only thing I really know is skating.

The fourth shot is me dominating at the finals. I've never felt so great, I was on top of my game. The girls were going insane, everyone around me had faces on them only I could give them.

The fifth shot is me after the tournament, rising to fame, and putting everyone to shame. The crowds going nuts, I've never felt so alive.

I believe the picture is self explanatory, women need to get themselves checked for breast cancer because approximately 111 women a day die from it.

A feather in a field

This is in response to self portrait option 4: http://www.personal.psu.edu/kzb133/WomensStudies/Portraits/portrait4.html

The reason I did this, is because most of my friends call me Ron, which I got in freshman year cause I "looked like" ronald weasley. And the hippogryph is pretty cool creature. I made this possible by getting pictures of the hippogryph in harry potter, and the school of Hogwarts which is the settings of the show.

Modern Experiment

My first poem is about how I'm the only one that cleans in the house. I have two roommates, one of which does kind of help, but not nearly what he should. I also have one that doesn't do jack. I once had to actually put the pot at his door, so he would finally get the hint.

My second one is about a waffle maker I got during black Friday. I love to use that waffle maker almost every weekend. Chocolate chip is my favorite, but peanut butter on top of the chocolate chip is amazing!!!

For the third one is about the Xbox 360 and it's apparent domination in the online community at the moment. Halo 3 was the most played game for a while there, and now is a steady second place behind Call of duty 4.

My Emigrant Quilt

I hope you don't criticize my use of the word emigrant. The definition of the word is, "Someone who leaves one country to settle in another." This is exactly what my quilt portrays. The Irish came over seas to settle and restricted themselves to 6 states because of poverty. They settled in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Illinois, Ohio, and New Jersey. A lot of the Irish worked on rail roads and were able to save enough money to buy land and become farmers, which is exactly what I tried to portray through images on my quilt.

Triptych Self Portrait

For this self portrait I chose the theme of technology. My three favorite items are Entourage on DVD, Nintendo 64 with the game Mario Kart 64, and my cell phone. The reason I chose Entourage on DVD is because I really enjoy the show. I've watched all the seasons at least 2 times. Unfortunately a new season isn't being aired until late 2008 because of the writers strike. The Nintendo 64 is a classic console system that was my favorite one of all time. The game Mario Kart 64 which goes along with it is a classic that I have many hours logged playing that game. My cell phone is an obvious choice as one of my favorite items because I use it every day, in and out of class. I can do pretty much anything with it, including play music, text people like I'm using a keyboard, and take cool pictures. I positioned the pictures on the site the way they are to give them a cool and fresh look, like a lot of what I had seen in the readings. I kept the theme from the first self portrait to keep everything relative.
